Todd is originally from the Philadelphia area. He received his B.A. in Biology from the University of Chicago in 1992 and his Ph.D. from the Department of Ecology and Evolution at Princeton University in 1998. He went on to postdoc with Steven Tanksley at Cornell University and with Sam Cartinhour at the USDA Center for Agricultural Bioinformatics. He joined UNC in 2001 and is currently an Associate Professor in Biology. He is also a member of the Carolina Center for Genome Sciences, the Curriculum in Genetics and Molecular Biology, the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Program and is the Associate Director for Informatics at the National Evolutionary Synthesis Center.
